CHRM College and Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Sign MOU to Empower Future Talent

Following a highly successful consultative engagement earlier this month, CHRM College is proud to inform our community that our shared vision with Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has officially been set in stone. Today, leadership teams from both institutions officially signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), creating an active partnership that connects high-caliber human capital development directly with the corporate banking sector.

This collaboration is uniquely designed to move beyond traditional corporate arrangements, focusing instead on real, tangible benefits that enrich our students’ academic experience and career readiness.

Recognizing the economic realities that many young professionals face while pursuing higher education, a key pillar of this MOU is dedicated to financial accessibility. Under this agreement, CHRM College students—particularly those banking or opening accounts with DTB—will be eligible for tailored financial assistance and student-friendly credit options. These facilities will be offered at uniquely favorable, fair, and competitive rates, helping to ease the financial pressure on families and ensuring our students can focus entirely on completing their professional training.

The signing ceremony was highlighted by a profoundly inspiring homecoming. Leading the corporate delegation from DTB was CHRM College alumna Lillian Ngala. For Lillian, returning to the College halls as an established corporate leader to execute this agreement was a moment of immense pride and emotion. She expressed her deep joy at spearheading this initiative, noting that this MOU serves as her personal and corporate vehicle for giving back to the very institution that laid the groundwork for her own illustrious career. Her journey stands as a living testament to the career heights our graduates are capable of reaching.

Core Commitments of the MOU:

  • Accessible Financial Aid: Providing specialized financial assistance at student-friendly rates to ensure smooth, uninterrupted learning journeys.
  • Mentorship & Executive Coaching: Giving students direct access to the professional expertise, market insights, and guidance of DTB’s corporate leaders.
  • Structured Career Pathways: Exploring clear avenues for industrial attachments, internships, and eventual graduate placements within the banking and corporate landscape.
  • Youth Empowerment Programs: Launching collaborative masterclasses centered on career readiness, workplace dynamics, and professional ethics for the modern HR practitioner.

With the legal frameworks now signed and complete, joint operational committees are moving quickly to implement these programs. CHRM College remains steadfast in its mission to offer holistic education that includes access to premium networks, financial cushions, and true corporate mentorship.

A Morning of Mindfulness and Medicine with AAR Clinic

Mind Matters, beyond the Desk

On Wednesday, 13th May, our campus took a break from the usual routine to focus on what matters most: our health. Starting at 10:00 AM, the AAR Clinic team hosted an insightful health talk that peeled back the layers of mental illness and well-being.

Rather than just clinical definitions, the session focused on the human side of health. We explored the importance of “professional clarity”, knowing when to talk to a specialist, and the impact of creating a culture where everyone feels comfortable and supported.

The mantra of the day was simple yet powerful: It’s okay not to be okay.

Alongside the talk, AAR provided on-site medical check-ups and tests, ensuring our team and students could get a quick pulse-check on their physical health while focusing on their mental state. It was a fantastic reminder that being at our best starts with taking care of ourselves and each other.

chrm scholarship award ceremony

Investing in the Future of HR: CHRM College Awards 2026 Scholarships.

At CHRM College, we’ve always believed that while education is the great equalizer, talent is the ultimate asset. This week, we turned that belief into action by officially awarding scholarships to two exceptional individuals, Wellingtone and Valentine.

This ceremony was a powerful reminder of our core mission. We aren’t just an institution of textbooks and exams; we are a foundation for human potential. By removing financial barriers, we aren’t simply giving a gift, we are making a strategic investment in the next generation of HR professionals.

The event was anchored by a profound message from our Board Member, Rev. Canon Stephine Opiyo Obong’o. Drawing from the Parable of the Talents, he challenged our two scholars to look beyond the financial aid. He urged them not to “bury” their potential out of fear or complacency, but to multiply it through discipline, hard work, and a spirit of service.

It was a call to action that resonated with everyone in the room: Potential is only as good as what you do with it.

Our Principal reinforced this commitment by reminding Wellingtone and Valentine that their journey here isn’t a solo one. She officially opened the doors, both literally and figuratively, assuring them that her office remains a space for mentorship, guidance, and personal growth.

We were also joined by key members of our leadership team who stood in support of this milestone: Linet Chedeye (Head of Academics), Moses Maina (Business Development Manager) and Amos (Student President).

For CHRM College, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) isn’t a checkbox. It’s about ensuring that the HR profession is accessible to those with the drive to lead it, regardless of their starting point.

We are incredibly proud to welcome Wellingtone and Valentine into this new chapter. We can’t wait to see how they multiply their talents and contribute to the future of Human Resources.

CHRM College 5th Annual General Meeting

Last week, the College of Human Resource Management (CHRM) convened its 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a major milestone in our expansion and strategic direction. Held on April 9th at 2:00 PM, the assembly served as a comprehensive review of the 2025 fiscal year, a period characterized by the Board as one of “both progress and challenges”, while laying the groundwork for the institution’s ambitious 2026 roadmap.

Following a structured agenda, the meeting commenced with the formal confirmation of the minutes from the previous Annual General Meeting held on April 10, 2025. This procedural opening transitioned into a comprehensive review of the College’s strategic milestones and financial performance over the past year.

The session was well-attended by the Board of Directors, led by the Board Chairperson, CHRP Odhiambo Ooko, FIHRM. They were joined by the CHRM Members, College’s management staff, external auditors, and the legal advocate serving as the Returning Officer, ensuring a quorum for the detailed reporting of the institution’s progress and leadership.

Financial Vitality and the Rise of Non-Academic Streams

The 2025 financial results confirmed the College’s strong position, with the reporting of a net profit that surpassed the previous year’s performance. This growth was largely driven by an increase in student enrollment and a strategic expansion of our Non-Academic programs. Our external auditors, who issued an unqualified opinion on the 2025 financial statements, further validated the College’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency.

Revenue from Non-Academic programs rose significantly, and the College continues to prioritize this stream with the aim of further expansion. To support this growth, CHRM has diversified its portfolio through new Executive Certificates in niche HR areas, with a rollout planned for the current year

Furthering its commercial and consultancy footprint, the College officially operationalized its new wing: Premier Hub for Consultancy, Research and Human Capital Development (PHRC) in the period under review.  To ensure full compliance with NITA requirements, PHRC has already secured independent premises and finalized a lease agreement, marking a major step toward institutional autonomy and specialized service delivery.

Academic Diversification and Strategic Partnerships

While CHRM maintains its reputation as a leader in HR education, the 2025 report showcased an adopted approach toward a more diverse academic portfolio. A major milestone was securing accreditation for the Health Records and Information Technology program.

To ensure these students receive industry-standard training, a successful partnership was established with Mama Lucy Hospital, providing them with internship opportunities. Other key academic developments included:

  • Research Innovation: A new subscription to Research Beeline has enhanced the College’s access to research grant opportunities, strengthening its capacity for academic breakthrough.
  • Library Expansion: The William Gitobu Memorial Library, expanded its collection with new texts, including critical English and Swahili resources for language students.
  •  Consistent Student Achievement: Our learners continue to demonstrate strong academic performance, reflecting both their dedication and the high standard of instruction at the College.
  • Strengthened Mentorship and Placement: We have expanded our efforts to support students beyond the classroom, focusing on active mentorship and career placement to help graduates transition smoothly into the professional world.
  • Milestone CDACC Pioneer Cohort: The College successfully graduated the first group of CDACC students, marking a major step forward in our commitment to competency-based training and practical skills.

The e-Campus Revolution and Virtual Learning

The year 2025 confirmed a significant shift in how students engage with higher education. The CHRM e-Campus has become the preferred choice for the majority of the student body, particularly among senior and working professionals.

Beyond online classes, the College is pioneering digital work-readiness. In partnership with CraftEx Company, the College introduced a virtual internship program. This initiative saw seven students successfully complete their placements in November 2025, demonstrating CHRM’s commitment to integrating technology into experiential learning and preparing graduates for the evolving workplace.

Leadership Transitions and Governance

The meeting also provided an important opportunity to discuss the College’s leadership and the direction we are taking for the future. Members acknowledged the transition following the passing of the former Board Chairman, the late Robert Mugira Fabian, FIHRM, whose dedicated service was succeeded by CHRP Odhiambo Ooko, FIHRM, as the Board Chairman.

In line with the College’s commitment to effective governance, the following resolutions were passed:

  • Board Elections: The assembly welcomed newly elected Director Mr. Tom Shivo.
  • Director Re-elections: Members approved the re-election of CPA Joseph Ouma and Dr. James Mwikya, PhD, for a further three-year and final term in accordance with Article 42 (c), (d), and (e) of the CHRM MeMARTs.
  • Audit Oversight: To ensure continued transparency, Nelson and Francis LLP were appointed as the official Auditors for the year ending December 31, 2026.

The 5th AGM closed with a clear message: by embracing new technology, developing specialized programs, and expanding our consultancy work, the College is firmly positioned at the forefront of the industry, ready to shape how professionals are trained in this changing landscape.

Faculty Excellence: CHRM Conducts CBET Pedagogy Training

In a proactive move to enhance instructional excellence and align with evolving educational standards, the College of Human Resource Management (CHRM) successfully conducted an intensive faculty pedagogy training program on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

The full-day workshop, themed “Foundations of CBET & Adult Learning,” brought together 29 faculty members for a comprehensive look into Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) and learner-centered methodologies. The session was led by esteemed facilitators Prof. Simon Ngigi and Dr. Catherine Kanana, both renowned experts in curriculum development.

The program focused on the practical integration of CBET principles into daily lesson delivery, ensuring that faculty can apply competency-based standards effectively. By creating outcome-based lessons, the training prioritized student engagement and used active learning strategies to improve both participation and retention. Consiquently, these methods ensure that all teaching remains closely aligned with current industry and occupational requirements.
