Last week, the College of Human Resource Management (CHRM) convened its 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a major milestone in our expansion and strategic direction. Held on April 9th at 2:00 PM, the assembly served as a comprehensive review of the 2025 fiscal year, a period characterized by the Board as one of “both progress and challenges”, while laying the groundwork for the institution’s ambitious 2026 roadmap.
Following a structured agenda, the meeting commenced with the formal confirmation of the minutes from the previous Annual General Meeting held on April 10, 2025. This procedural opening transitioned into a comprehensive review of the College’s strategic milestones and financial performance over the past year.
The session was well-attended by the Board of Directors, led by the Board Chairperson, CHRP Odhiambo Ooko, FIHRM. They were joined by the CHRM Members, College’s management staff, external auditors, and the legal advocate serving as the Returning Officer, ensuring a quorum for the detailed reporting of the institution’s progress and leadership.
Financial Vitality and the Rise of Non-Academic Streams
The 2025 financial results confirmed the College’s strong position, with the reporting of a net profit that surpassed the previous year’s performance. This growth was largely driven by an increase in student enrollment and a strategic expansion of our Non-Academic programs. Our external auditors, who issued an unqualified opinion on the 2025 financial statements, further validated the College’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency.
Revenue from Non-Academic programs rose significantly, and the College continues to prioritize this stream with the aim of further expansion. To support this growth, CHRM has diversified its portfolio through new Executive Certificates in niche HR areas, with a rollout planned for the current year
Furthering its commercial and consultancy footprint, the College officially operationalized its new wing: Premier Hub for Consultancy, Research and Human Capital Development (PHRC) in the period under review. To ensure full compliance with NITA requirements, PHRC has already secured independent premises and finalized a lease agreement, marking a major step toward institutional autonomy and specialized service delivery.
Academic Diversification and Strategic Partnerships
While CHRM maintains its reputation as a leader in HR education, the 2025 report showcased an adopted approach toward a more diverse academic portfolio. A major milestone was securing accreditation for the Health Records and Information Technology program.
To ensure these students receive industry-standard training, a successful partnership was established with Mama Lucy Hospital, providing them with internship opportunities. Other key academic developments included:
- Research Innovation: A new subscription to Research Beeline has enhanced the College’s access to research grant opportunities, strengthening its capacity for academic breakthrough.
- Library Expansion: The William Gitobu Memorial Library, expanded its collection with new texts, including critical English and Swahili resources for language students.
- Consistent Student Achievement: Our learners continue to demonstrate strong academic performance, reflecting both their dedication and the high standard of instruction at the College.
- Strengthened Mentorship and Placement: We have expanded our efforts to support students beyond the classroom, focusing on active mentorship and career placement to help graduates transition smoothly into the professional world.
- Milestone CDACC Pioneer Cohort: The College successfully graduated the first group of CDACC students, marking a major step forward in our commitment to competency-based training and practical skills.
The e-Campus Revolution and Virtual Learning
The year 2025 confirmed a significant shift in how students engage with higher education. The CHRM e-Campus has become the preferred choice for the majority of the student body, particularly among senior and working professionals.
Beyond online classes, the College is pioneering digital work-readiness. In partnership with CraftEx Company, the College introduced a virtual internship program. This initiative saw seven students successfully complete their placements in November 2025, demonstrating CHRM’s commitment to integrating technology into experiential learning and preparing graduates for the evolving workplace.
Leadership Transitions and Governance
The meeting also provided an important opportunity to discuss the College’s leadership and the direction we are taking for the future. Members acknowledged the transition following the passing of the former Board Chairman, the late Robert Mugira Fabian, FIHRM, whose dedicated service was succeeded by CHRP Odhiambo Ooko, FIHRM, as the Board Chairman.
In line with the College’s commitment to effective governance, the following resolutions were passed:
- Board Elections: The assembly welcomed newly elected Director Mr. Tom Shivo.
- Director Re-elections: Members approved the re-election of CPA Joseph Ouma and Dr. James Mwikya, PhD, for a further three-year and final term in accordance with Article 42 (c), (d), and (e) of the CHRM MeMARTs.
- Audit Oversight: To ensure continued transparency, Nelson and Francis LLP were appointed as the official Auditors for the year ending December 31, 2026.
The 5th AGM closed with a clear message: by embracing new technology, developing specialized programs, and expanding our consultancy work, the College is firmly positioned at the forefront of the industry, ready to shape how professionals are trained in this changing landscape.
