The personnel administration function of human resources has become outdated in the past 20 years. Today, human resources departments have a more defined, strategic role in organizations, which has a direct impact on the bottom line. One of the challenges for HR leaders is convincing executive leadership teams that human capital is one of the most important resources in which the company can invest. This return on investment is an essential part of the argument for including HR as part of an overall business strategy.

In an ideal world, there is not a line drawn in the sand between human resources strategy and business strategy. A successful business owner realizes the strong connection between the two. Developing human capital is important to the longevity and success of a business. In the past, personnel administration was merely the processing of payroll, benefits and applications. Human resources strategy today involves executive leadership teams conferring with human resources experts to develop complementary goals for human resources and the overall business.

THEME:  THINK BUSINESS! THINK HR!!  Getting HR Professionals to ADD Value to the Business

The College of Human Resource Management (CHRM) and IHRM-Nyanza/Western Chapter have partnered to host this Convention to explore ways of how best HR Professionals can add value to their organizations by linking HR activities to the Bottom Line with a view to making sense of their value to the business owners as well as being conversant with Best Practices in HR.

Therefore the objectives of the Summit will be:

  • To understand HR Strategy equals Business Strategy and its role in the overall economy
  • To share knowledge and skills on talent management for higher productivity and results
  • To explore Trends that affect HR and Business Strategy
  • To interrogate the educational system’s capacity in producing skills relevant to the economy – how to address skills mismatch…
  • To understand HR issues and challenges in the new devolved structures
  • To examine the role of ICT in promoting the competences of HRM in Kenya
